General Dynamics NASSCO-Norfolk is the consolidation of two great shipyards that have operated in the Port of Hampton Roads, Virginia for more than 50 years - the former Metro Machine Corporation and the former Earl Industries. Along with our facilities in Bremerton, Washington, our expertise encompasses experience on more than 450 ships, a Master Ship Repair Agreement (MSRA) contract, and the maintenance and repair of aircraft carriers and ships from the Navy's amphibious fleet.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

Provide professional level support in the full life-cycle (sourcing, screening, qualifying, selecting and hiring) of highly-qualified personnel. Partner with hiring managers, recruit and evaluate external, internal, resource labor candidates, and secure/analyze compensation data determined for job offers, promotions and internal transfers. The recruiter also insures that the temporary labor resource needs of NASSCO are met utilizing authorized providers, ensuring qualified placements, while maintaining the corporate philosophy on the use of temporary labor resources.

POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)

Typically has a BA/BS in a related field of study plus two (2) years directly related experience, or AA/AS plus four (4) years directly related experience, or eight (8) years directly related experience. Recruiting experience strongly preferred.

  • Well rounded knowledge of the ship repair industry and the various positions and trades within ship repair.

  • Ability to learn, to understand, and to respond to internal customer needs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Talent Acquisition Manager. Exercises discretion when prioritizing recruitment activities. Interacts with all levels of employees and management and external candidates. This position has no direct reports.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain recruitment strategy for attracting and selecting candidates. Coordinate recruitment, sourcing and on-boarding activities.
  • Attend/participate in recruitment fairs, job events and local career fairs. Develop strategic relationships with local job networks.
  • Manage new hire process. Responsible for extending job offers, scheduling and conducting interviews, making travel arrangements, and overseeing employees throughout the new hire process.
  • Analyze compensation data to determine internal and external market equity, job offers, promotions, and internal transfers.
  • Facilitate and/or co-conduct new employee orientation, if required.
  • Maintain a pipeline of qualified/interested potential candidates for future consideration.
  • Create/maintain internal/external job postings; update company website & coordinate advertisements.
  • Maintain recruitment strategy for attracting and selecting candidates and temporary employees.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities.
  • Coordinate between hiring managers and temporary labor providers.
  • Oversee internal transfer process. Responsible for reviewing salaries, extending job offers, and communicating change in status to employees.
  • Represent company at job and career fairs and information days.
  • Participate in audit of temporary labor providers.
  • Insure temporary labor providers are meeting their requirements as an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
  • Create reports using PeopleSoft and recruiting data by querying and analyzing data, advanced level of recruiting system administration and system augmentation required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
