Summary:
The Database Administrator position includes responsibility for database development, administration and reporting, working as a member of an IT support group assisting various departments with the maintenance of existing CRM, Financial and Traffic database applications, the design of new open-source database applications; and development of custom queries, reports and integrations.
Job Duties
Database Management
Responsible for database management for all in-house supported database systems (including but not limited to Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, and Informix). Supported applications currently include Team Approach, ProTrack, MS Exchange/Outlook, ScheduALL. Assumes leadership role and accepts responsibility for management of troubleshooting any data-related problems with all supported applications (listed above). Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications. Works with Information Technology staff to identify and correct software malfunctions in a timely fashion so as not to disrupt corporate operations. Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.?
Database Programming
Responsible for the accurate and timely execution of all Oracle-generate reports and documents for the Development department. Responsible for database programming (including the design of data structures, data normalization, development of queries and report generation), as time permits, for all supported in-house systems and special projects. Identifies database requirements by interviewing internal customers; analysing department applications, programming, and operations, evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems and enhancements.
Skills and Requirements:
Degree in computer science and/or a related field or equivalent technical education and a minimum of 5 years of experience working in an RDBMS environment. A fundamental working knowledge of and experience with Oracle and SQL data management and design is expected at a minimum. Successful candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and must be able to manage projects without the need for daily supervision.
Nice to have:
Additional desirable skills include knowledge of any of the following applications and DBMS's Postgres, Informix; Crystal Reports; Microsoft Dynamics; Team Approach; and Pro Track. A basic understanding of PCI compliance and data security policies and requirements is also desired.
