Job Description
Provide in port maintenance support, repairs services, and logistics support for Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) mission equipment during T-AGOS ship in port periods and between in-port availability periods.
Selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
1)Provide direct support for and quality control of SURTASS Mission Readiness Availabilities (MRA)/Mission Readiness Reviews (MRR)
2) Conduct TL29A System grooms and module balances
3)Conduct in-port and at sea Refresher Training (REFTRA) for SURTASS O&M; crew members. Develop and maintain training materials for REFTRA.
4)Perform electronic equipment installations, and training.
5)Prepare operational and maintenance procedures and manuals as required.
6)Preparation and submission of required engineering and administrative reports.
7)Perform and provide quality assurance for repairs and modifications to equipment, and ensure applicable maintenance standards are met.
8)Perform engineering research and analysis on new and existing equipment.
9)Augment ship''s technical crew in port and at sea as necessary.
10)Act as a liaison/coordinator with contract sponsor, TAGOS ships Master, sponsored ship riders, MILCREW, other SURTASS contractors, MSC, shipyard personnel, and other government organizations.
CONUS and OCONUS travel will be required.
Able to accept scheduled and unscheduled OCONUS assignments and extensions up to three months with limited advance notice based on SURTASS Program Operational Tempo.
Must have or be able to obtain a valid U. S. passport.
Position may require the ability to perform in an arduous duty environment.
Successful candidate must be capable of passing a Mariners Physical per COMSCINST and must maintain their medical fitness for this position.
The selected applicant selected may be required to work at sea on ships, work rotating shifts, and work in excess of 40 hours per week.
The selected applicant must have a valid driver''s license, and willing to obtain an international driving permit to drive if needed on the left side of the road.
The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified material.
Basic Qualifications
Must have at least an Associate Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Technology, or a graduate of US Navy electronics C school. Curriculum must have dealt directly with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of: VME computers, digital computers, microprocessors or peripheral/interface equipment, communications system, navigation system and/or SONAR system.
Selected candidate shall have a thorough understanding of COTS maintenance requirements, and open architecture implications. As well as understanding of the administration of the U.S. Navy Maintenance Material Management system (3M).
Experienced in civilian or military operation, maintenance, and system administration of computers and computer networks running on LINUX, Solaris OS.
Must have the ability to work under only very general supervision and to provide training to shipboard assigned electronic maintenance technicians.
Equivalent experience/education combinations are permitted based on the Typical Minimums required for this job which are 2 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
Desired skills
Knowledge and experience in more than one of the following areas is a plus: maintenance of TL29A passive towed array, LFA/CLFA active sonar systems; HF, UHF, or SHF communications systems; Navy ISNS/COMPOSE servers and workstations. , and ICP SONAR processing systems.
Depot Level Maintenance experience with passive towed SONAR arrays, O&M; experience LFA/CLFA active arrays. O&M; experience with SHF,UHF,HF communications systems. System Administrator experience with U.S.Navy ADNS/ISNS/COMPOSE/HBSS servers and work stations. O&M; experience with ICP Mobile SONAR processing systems
