Senior Cognos Database Administrator with Security Clearance
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary:
The Senior IBM Cognos Database Administrator is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations and management of an enterprise level production database.
The Senior Cognos Database Administrator will develop, manage and test installations, upgrades, replication, backup and recovery of current databases; Provide technical and business expertise in connection with the Risk Management Information (RMI) Development & Sustainment Support effort for the Sea Warrior Program Office (PMW 240).

o Provide database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management.
o Develop and maintain data integration and ETL solutions and methodologies.
o Develop solutions for migrating datao Participate in the upgrade of software/releases, including the customization of functionality and the performance of technical tests to ensure minimal impact on the businesso Work closely with business users to understand requirements and resolve access and performance issues.
o Manage communication with IBM/.
Cognos on debugging efforts and troubleshooting ticketso Respond to and resolve access and performance issues for our business userso Manage communication with IBM / Cognos on debugging efforts and trouble ticketso Management of application recovery/safeguard protocolso Documentation of environment / production change controls logso Lead application performance monitoring efforts / job monitoring/audits/system usageo Conduct research and make recommendations on Cognos BI/TM1 and related technology products, services, protocols and standards in support of Business Intelligence analytics and reportingo Drive the development/maintenance of the Cognos BI environment and infrastructureo Develop, implement and maintain change control and testing processes for modificationso Installation and upgrades of Cognos applications across multiple environments Minimum
Qualifications:
(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
) o 10 or more years of overall IT experience, 7 or more years of experience with SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2008 R2, or SQL Server 2008 or Oracle 10g or above.
3 or more years of experience on production deployment systems.
Experience to also include:
o Strong experience in SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting languages.
o Experience with writing complex SQL Queries, User Defined Functions, Stored procedures, and Materialized views.
o Experience in developing structured analytics and creating interactive Dashboards in scalable and secure environments.
o Understanding of Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) Microsoft SQL Server Integrated Services (SSIS) in data warehouse.
o Experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
o Knowledge of version control software (Git) and ticket tracking system.
o Experience with Web services technologies.
o Senior level experience in SQL Server administration.
o Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS)o Experience managing clusters and database monitoring.
o Hands on experience with performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
o Strong working experience in all phases of the SDLC, and EW data analysis/library products to support automated tool development is strongly preferred.
o Experience in development production support /maintenance environmento XML, XSD, DTDo HTML, JavaScript, CSS and AJAXo Web browser HTML/JavaScript behavior (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari)o XPath or XSLTo XML DOM Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
o Must be well organized, an effective communicator at multiple levels and able to grasp system concepts and communicate their applications.
o Must be capable of quickly learning new systems and associated software applications for proficient execution of tasks.
o Must be capable of managing multiple projects with time related constraints in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment.
o Must be able to speak effectively before groups of internal and/or external customers or employees.
