Development Giving Officer

Overview:
The Giving Officer is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a portfolio of prospects and donors for acquiring individual gifts in the $500 to $5,000 giving range.
This position works under the direction of the Executive Director, Major Gifts & Annual Giving and in collaboration with the Major Giving team to assure that ample unrestricted and restricted funds are generated to enhance and support the overall mission of EVMS.
The focus of this position is to develop and manage a portfolio of mid-level giving donors by initiating, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding relationships with individuals, couples, and families who partner financially with EVMS.
The incumbent is responsible for researching donors, broad donor communications, and developing and executing fundraising strategies that increase donor retention rates, increase giving per donor, and lift mid-level donors into a major gifts portfolio.
Work schedule will require weekends, evenings, and extended hours as needed.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the annual and major giving as well as donor and alumni relations team to ensure consistency with communications, messaging, and solicitations.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Major & Annual Giving, and in consultation with the Annual and Major Giving teams, develop, implement and manage EVMSs mid-level donor program (individuals in the $500$5,000 giving range), including establishing short-term and long-term strategies.
Solicits and closes gifts from mid-level giving donors.
Face-to-face visits to select donors for cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship efforts.
Prepare proposals and presentations for meetings and events.
Develop strong relationships with donors and prospects to deepen donors commitment to EVMS.
Identify prospects from direct mail data and target analytics for portfolio development and identification of additional target areas of strategic interest to EVMS.
Create and manage segmented constituent-based direct marketing programs geared at engaging new and/or unidentified EVMS audiences (i.
e.
parents, students, faculty/staff, grateful patients, etc.
).
Create, write, and process special correspondence with appropriate personalization including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship letters.
Schedule qualification visits within an assigned portfolio to share and request information to determine donor readiness, capacity, and inclination (RCI) to financially support EVMS based on fundraising specific goals.
Promote EVMSs planned giving program.
Executes strategy through phone, email, and mail communication.
Manage the production of mid-level annual appeals, renewals, and upgrade materials, as well as all other correspondence and stewardship specific to the annual fund and planned giving programs.
Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications department to ensure consistency with communications, messaging, and solicitations.
Ensure that all donors and donor interactions are tracked accurately and that individual gifts are acknowledged in a timely and appropriate manner.
Organize donor cultivation events in coordination with the Development and Alumni Relations team.
Document daily activities, contacts, action reports, calls, correspondence into Raisers Edge database to ensure comprehensive assessment of donor needs and interests as well as for weekly & monthly reporting purposes.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
Assist with other duties assigned by the Executive Director, Major Gifts & Annual Giving.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/
Experience:
Bachelors degree Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in development/ fundraising with a solid understanding of fundraising principles and methodologies is required.
Working knowledge of planned giving a plus.
Experience in marketing and/or strong marketing and public relations skills with the goal of successfully soliciting gifts a plus.
Experience using CRM databases required; experience in Raisers Edge database preferred.
Experience in higher education or within academic health center is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required, Access preferred.

Knowledge of techniques and best practices in annual giving including stewardship communications (including email solicitations and social media strategies for online fundraising).
Ability to work collaboratively on a team.
Ability to analyze, assimilate, handle, and interpret information and data and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Knowledge of moves management and ability to visually track donor progress using Fundraising Performance Management.
