Data Scientist
Key Role:
Prepare a wide variety of computer programs, associated documentation, block diagrams and logic flow charts to be applied to technical, scientific or engineering problems. Conduct detailed analysis of defined system specifications. Convert symbolic statements or work processes to detailed, logical work flow charts and coding into program language. Design detailed programs and diagrams indicating mathematical computations, sequence of data, and print solutions. Verify the accuracy and completeness of programs by preparing sample test data, conducting program tests, analyzing test relates, and debugging program errors. Develop corrections by revising instructions or alternating the sequence of operations. Modify existing programs by changing system requirements or clarifying program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and requirements for internal checks and controls, as needed and analyze complete documentation, procedures, and operating instructions.
Basic
Qualifications:
Experience with multiple programming languages
Experience in working with scientists or engineers
Ability to conduct technical writing intended for scientific publication
Ability to present in front of large audiences
Ability to obtain a security clearance
BA or BS degree in CS, including mathematics coursework, such as linear algebra, matrix theory, calculus, or CS programming or 4 years of experience with scientific programming
Additional
Qualifications:
Experience with working on technical research projects
Experience with differential calculus, computational physics, Bayesian statistics, design of experiments, or multivariate statistics
Experience as a contributing author for a publication in a conference or journal
Experience with presenting at conferences or in front of large audiences
Experience with Web scraping, csv processing, and other data mining techniques
Ability to use multiple software languages, including Python, R, C/C++, Java, JavaScript, SharePoint, VBA, GPU languages, and Amazon Web Services
Active Secret clearance
