GENERAL
Summary: Sheet Metal Mechanic must understand how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them with minimal assistance. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks.
LOCATION: Norfolk, VA.
Position Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Must understand the layout of the ship and compartment identification
Must demonstrate knowledge of blueprint reading, written requirements and ship terminology.
Must function and operate hand tools and power tools with no assistance safely and efficiently
Must have proficient in Habitability layout and installation of metal joiner (MJ) bulkheads, MJ doors, berths, galleys, and office outfitting.
Must work under industrial repair conditions; work in confined spaces; climb vertical and inclined ladders; operate basic hand-held manual and power tools; and lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds and seek assistance with weights over 50 lbs.
Must have knowledge of Sheetmetal trade and the ability to understand and delegate ship work.
Must be able to complete habitability work while partnered with helpers and higher-class mechanics.
Must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations
Must know various materials to include galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.
Must be Physically and Medically qualified to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job
Must be able to fabricate and install sheet metal items, vent, flashing, racks, lockers, bulkhead panels, sanitary space install etc.
Must have basic tack welding skills
Minimum relevant
Experience: 3 to 5 yrs.
Must be able to read, write and comprehend simple instructions.
Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
Must be able to calculate and understand units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
Must want to excel in the shipyard.
Must be able to pass Drug Screening, Work Ability Screening.
Must be able to obtain government access badge.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
