Position
Summary:
The Engineering Technician III will provide network engineering support for engineering team.
Efforts will be focused toward COTS/GOTS integration for military C4ISR network systems.
Will work independently or as a team member to implement/test/troubleshoot C4ISR based military networks to ensure customer requirements are satisfied prior to installation.
Research, evaluate, test, recommend, communicate and implement new security software or devices.
Develop network solutions to support system reliability, management, data integrity and performance.
Position will include hands-on network equipment performance testing studies in a lab environment to validate network designs prior to deployment.
Responsibilities:
Perform enterprise network configuration and maintenance as it relates to network components, network encryption devices, and computer workstations.
Configure and troubleshoot routers and multi-layer switches.
Perform integration of new technologies into local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN).
Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex network problems.
Provide diagnostic support using network analysis tools.
Provide fault isolation and incident resolution support for networks.
Design, document, and provide technical solutions to customers for classified and unclassified networks.
Provide Pre-SOVT validation, perform minor hardware replacements or repairs, perform post-production modifications (PPM), Cyber Technical Upgrades (CTU), and Technical Refresh rack refurbishment.
Provide support at the ship or shore site of the install for pre-light off equipment and wiring validation or testing, initial light-off of the system and for any hardware or wiring repair or replacement internal to the equipment racks.
Provide onsite and offsite systems integration, familiarization, OJT and technical training as required and support the development of training documentation.
Education:
Two (2) years of Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent education including a background in algebra, plane geometry, drafting, and physics.
Applicable formal military training in an A or C school teaching fleet related communication systems or completion of a four (4) year formal apprenticeship program in the appropriate field is also acceptable as a substitute or complement to the above educational requirements.
Requirements &
Qualifications:
Ten (10) years of practical experience in the field of electrical and/or electronic drafting, engineering design, and fleet installation design.
Four (4) of the ten (10) year experience to include:
installation of such equipment and one (1) in design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings.
Four (4) years of experience in recommending alternative designs of equipment, systems, and materials and in planning or conceiving engineering systems, structures, electrical, or electronic installations in order to satisfy performance, economy, safety, size, strength, durability, production, and maintainability factors of which two (2) must have been performed within the last three (3) years Experience with limited production, verification, installation, and customer acceptance of US Navy systems is highly desired.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting Routers, Switches, Wireless Controls and Access Points.
This experience shall include knowledge networking protocols, Firewalls and VLANs on shipboard NIPR, SIPR, SR and SCI Networks.
Knowledge of Ethernet cabling and use of Fiber optic medium and devices.
Experience loading and configuring SW including servers, workstations and various other platforms.
Experience loading and configuring Host Based Security System (HBSS).
Experience loading and configuring IAVA security scanning tools.
Experience loading, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing and resolving issues of shipboard current and legacy SW is required to the extent necessary for a successful load and integration.
Documentation validating that SW SMEs have accomplished this on an afloat unit must be submitted with the offeror's proposal.
Experience integrating and configuring hosted and connected systems into existing loaded SW and hardware environments.
Experience with the following systems is highly desired:
CANES, ISNS, ADNS, CENTRIXS, SCI LAN, SubLAN.
Meet, at a minimum, DoD 8570 requirements for IAT Level 2.
US Citizenship and a current DoD SECRET security clearance is required.
